The Vermont Division for Historic Preservation has awarded the American Precision Museum an $8,000 grant to assist with the initial phase of the museum’s masonry stabilization project.
The American Precision Museum's new exhibit, From Muskets to Motorcars: Yankee Ingenuity and the Road to Mass Production, is open daily from 10-5 through October. The exhibit shows the development of machines and precision manufacturing that made modern factory production possible. Muskets to Motorcars traces the development of the machinery from gunmaking in the Robbins and Lawrence Armory, that now houses the museum, to the development of clocks, sewing machines, typewriters, bicycles and the automobile.
The American Precision Museum and the Vermont Museum & Gallery Alliance welcomed Vermont Governor, Jim Douglas, to the museum where he signed into law an Act Relating to Property Loaned to Museums. The event was attended by museum professionals and legislators who worked on the bill as well as trustees and friends.
